Quilts of Valor Outreach - Join us in honoring service men and women touched by war.
We are honored to be a QOV-registered shop and welcome our customers to join the effort to top last year's 35 quilts awarded locally! We already have a waiting list of Veterans who have been nominated! We've awarded 109 quilts since our local chapter started in 2021.
A Quilt of Valor® is our award to service men and women who have been touched by war. A Quilt of Valor says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service, sacrifice and valor in serving our nation."
Want to help? We always welcome volunteers! You can donate a single block (or many!) or an entire quilt top - all three of our shops locations are participating. You may also donate a fully completed quilt to this effort! This is a wonderful project for guilds and retreat friends!

The recommended size of a Quilt of Valor is 60″ x 80″; it must be a minimum of 55″ x 65″ and a maximum of 72″ x 90.
We recommend donating blocks or quilt tops (or entire completed quilts) before labor day weekend so there's plenty of time for fall piecing, longarming, and binding before Veterans Day in November. We also award quilts throughout the year as needed due to medical urgency, special presentations, and many other requests.

We welcome you to join The Sewing House Quilts of Valor Volunteer group on Facebook. It's a great place to ask questions and see last year's photos!
What to expect:
After Labor Day each year, we ask volunteer team captains to help us sort blocks and put "piecing kits" together with fabric for sashing/borders. September is a great time for volunteers to come into the shop to pick up kits. They can take kits home to piece quilt tops and drop off within a few weeks by early October.
Longarm "Army" helpers are VERY MUCH appreciated to help! Batting and backing is provided thanks to our generous donors (Collierville Rotary, A-Team Roofing, and many individual donors)! This process starts in mid-September through mid-October. We also welcome binding volunteers to finish the quilts by the end of October.
How to help - Choose Your Fabric and Patterns
2. A Quilt of Valor does not have to be red, white, and blue, but patriotic colors are very popular with recipients.
3. Patterns and blocks can be of any design suitable for a patriotic theme. The QOV site has FREE PATTERNS.
4. Avoid juvenile, gender or branch-specific fabrics, unless the recipient is known to you.

Every $10 or $50 or $500 helps!
