18 years ago I sat down to design my very first fabric collection. I didn’t know where that exersize would lead me or that it would completely change my life forever. I poured everything I had into those drawings without a contract, a guarantee or a company that wanted to produce what I came up with. That first collection was something of a prayer, a meditation, a hope for a future I didn’t have the experience to conceive of yet. That collection was called Full Moon Forest and it was the first step on a path that has consumed my every waking moment since.
When I realized that I was again sitting down to design a fabric collection but now for the 50th time I felt appreciation wash over me. With this new collection I want to honor where I began and what I have gained along the way. So much has changed since that first collection and in some ways so much is still the same. Full Moon Forrest II is the culmination of the the things I have learned along the way, the ways I have evolved, improved and achieved clarity over the years of doing a job that I love so much. In this new collection I have revisited each of the original prints and reimagined them with all of the things I have learned. I didn’t want to ignore the original completely so I included three original prints as “ghost” versions printed in white on white. These prints are designed to act as a memory, a backdrop, the very foundations that the new prints were built upon.
This is a thank you letter to the last 18 years, to the manufacturers, retailers and quilters that have supported me along the way. Full Moon Forest II is a great book end to my first 50 collections and an awesome springboard for the next fifty.
