Summer Flies Again Shawl Knitting Class—October 6, 13, and 20—Memphis

Learn to make the Summer Flies Again shawl! This shawl is a wonderful introduction to lacework. Its simple, repetitive pattern sections produce a pretty eyelet design and a sophisticated half-round shape. 

Please note: There are two different size shawls you can make with this pattern—yarn requirements for each size are given.

In this class, you will learn how to knit a tab insert, make basic lacework increases and decreases, count rows and stitches in lacework, maintain tension in an openwork piece, and work a picot or ruffle bind off.

Level: Intermediate—You should have completed multiple projects and be ready to learn basic lacework techniques.

Yarn and notion requirements, available at The Sewing House:

• Size US 8 circular needles, at least 32” long
• For larger size shawl—715 to 730 yds of worsted or DK weight yarn
• For smaller size shawl—approximately 400 yds of worsted or DK weight yarn
• Locking stitch markers

Yarn recommendations include Malabrigo Rios (worsted weight) and Malabrigo Arroyo (DK weight).
