Sew Your Own Jeans Workshop-January 30 to February 1-Collierville

Take your sewing to the next level in this fun-filled weekend as you learn to sew your own jeans! While sewing jeans seems like it would be difficult, it doesn't have to be - and instructor/Jeans Queen Lauren Taylor is going to show you just how easy (and fun!) it can be!

Students will learn using the Ginger Jeans from Closet Core Patterns - a classic high- rise skinny jean made with stretch denim. We will go over everything you need to know to make a professional looking pair of jeans - choosing the correct size, performing minor pattern alterations and basic fitting adjustments, tips for accurate topstitching, serged seam finishes, an easy fly-front zipper, and installing all that fun hardware!

We will kick off the weekend with a half day to choose your size (we will have samples of the Ginger Jeans pre-made so you can try them on!) and cutting and marking your denim (all with wine and snacks on hand!).

Construction will begin on Saturday and continue through the weekend. You will leave with not only a new pair of jeans, but also the knowledge and empowerment to make more on your own!

Level: Intermediate adult sewers or adventurous advanced beginners with a little experience under their belt and have sewn at least one garment pattern. Prior sewing experience is required to take this class. Sewing skills required for this class: straight seams, sewing curved seams, easing two pieces of fabric together, topstitching from the right side of the fabric (not the underside), understitching, and pressing quickly and efficiently. All students should have a general understanding of sewing patterns + cutting layouts and should be comfortable quickly changing the top thread on their sewing machine. Students will need to work fast and be ok with an imperfect first pair!

Class fee includes fabric + hardware kit
*Please Note: Students may substitute the Quadra or Fulford jeans by Thread Theory if they want a more masculine fit.
**While this is NOT a pants-fitting class, you'll be able to try on muslins of all Ginger Jeans sizes and Lauren will cover minor fitting adjustments and alterations.

For special event classes, there are no refunds or store credits. You may transfer your registration to another person at any time.
